Help with saltwater rod length please…?
Hi, looking for a saltwater rod (thinking 6 1/2 or 7 foot) to go with my shimano spheros reel. Will be used for porgy, striper, bluefish, sea bass, fluke… Mostly from a boat but a few times on the shore.
For fishing from on a boat and from the surf, there is a bit of a grey area in between. You need power in a rod for upward tugging and you need leverage in a surf rod for long casting. I would recommend a 7-foot rod with a SPINNING reel, a bait-caster wouldn’t be much help on shore.
