Best rod for Shimano Calcutta 400?
I just bought a Shimano Calcutta 400 and i was wondering what the best rod would be. I guess it wouldn’t be a great surf set up. I was thinking maybe some long pier fishing. I was hoping to use it for big Cobia or Tarpon. Any help guys, or gals, thanks.
I willbe using somewhere around 65 to 75lb braid. I don’t know if that helps.
Alex, I use a Penn 975 and 965 for bass on my swimbait rods. And I throw things a hell of a lot bigger lures than a damn Huddleston trout…

I use Calcuttas from the CT50B all the way up to the CT200GTB in fresh water, but that 400 I think would work great for saltwater. It should handle either of those fish you mentioned.
A rod for it though would be something along the lines of a Loomis or St. Croix.
