chain slipping on middle and top sprocket in the front?
my chain keeps slipping on the middle and big sprocket by the front derailer someone had lossend up the cables on me and had it readjusted and now all a sudden the chain slips now do i loosen tighten the cables with the barrel to fix it or what do i do im not sure i have an 2008 trek 8000 with shimano xt components
it sounds like you need to slightly loosen the adjuster.you don’t say if new bike or last seasons purchase! if new this would be a service breakin adjustment ( free) usually in the first 30-45 days. but there could be more to the problem then just cable stretch. like damaged teeth on chainring, dirty drive train including chain, derailleur out of alignment. take to a shop have chek’d and adjusted as required. purchase a repair/maintenance manual from a book store or bike shop even the bicycle repairs for dummies works( not trying to be funny there). these small repairs can be done at home with few tools required and will save $ and you get to know your ride better. also cleaning & relube schedule are important for smooth operation.
