what type of rod to use off of a 13 ft whaler for schoolies?
i have a 13 ft whaler and a 6 and a half foot fresh water spinning rod with 17 lb test, its not ood to use in the salt water as it can damage the reel and the rod itself is not heavy enough for the schoolies, what type of rod should i use, along with line reel and lures. if its any help i live and fish in plymouth mass for small striper schoolies
every body uses fresh water reels in the ocean you have to rinse it off thoroughly with clean fresh water after each and every use is all. as far as rods go, like boats who would know. The best thing you can do is to go to every rod and tackle shop and feel the rods and reels in every combination till you get the right balance and feel in your hands combination. then go look for closeouts on line using the make and model numbers of the rod and reel you choose. if you like the guys at the stores locally take the ad from on line to them and see if they’ll match it (don’t forget their is postage and handling added to on line buys)
