is eating salty foods and drinking water similar to saltwater?
its known that drinking salt water is bad but i always wondered if eating salt and then drinking water is the same. it seems like it would be but maybe the other parts of food reduce the effect or maybe the salt is different for food.
Yes, it’s pretty much the same thing. When you ingest too much salt, either by drinking salt water, or eating salt and drinking fresh water, your cells absorb too much of the salt. Your body then detects this and the cells flush out as much water as they can in an effort to flush out the salt. This lack of water then damages the cells, even killing them, which is why drinking only salt water will eventually kill you. But, an excessive intake of sodium over a long period of time also results in high blood pressure, which can lead to heart attacks and heart disease.
