What reel for bottom bashing?
Hi. Just getting into the deep offshore fishing lately and being all new to this, I’m planning to buying a new bottom bashing outfit and deciding between a Shimano Saragosa 8000 or Shimano Baitunner D 8000. Any help input would be much needed.
Most likely will be fishing in max 70 metres of water, with a Shimano Triton Sportfish 10-15kg rod.
1. Just wondering whether, in general, would 10-15kg be suitable for a max weight of around 8-10oz of snapper lead? Or should I go to 15-24kg?
2. Which reel would be more suituble for bottom bashing and live baiting etc? Saragosa 8000 or Baitrunner D 8000. Planning on using 30lb braid.
3. What would be the benefit of having a baitrunner system? As I already have lighter outfit for floatlining.
Any help is much appreciated!!!
