i have a shimano curado 201e7 baitrcaster reel with vbs. what is variable brake sytem 4?
i also am fishing with a 6′ abu g blak max rod and a 3/16 rapala original floating lure how many vbs should i have engaged (pink weights) and what drag should i have on?
The breaking system is a mechanical device used to help too much centrifugal force from the spool inertia causing a backlash.
You have to set the breaks either two at a time opposing, three which is every other one, all five, or non engaged. Any other configuration will cause the spool to off balance reducing the casting distance.
I generally use two of the magnets pushed in and fine tune with the spool tension knob.
