Does anyone know or use a Red Wolf Reel?
I have a Red Wolf Reel on my Shimano 6’6 Rod, I received the rod and reel as a gift a few years ago, but Ive been asking around at the fish tackle stores in my area, and no one is familiar with it. Just wanted to find more about it. Also can I adjust it to achieve max performance, I run a spinning rig.
Also on my shimano rod, I noticed that on at least 1 of the guides the inside is a little rusty, Im wondering if there is a lubricant or a sealer I can use to inhibit damage to my line.
not much info out there on this reel. one search turned up an album by “hoover and the uprights”. I thought that was funny.
There is a tackle shop in the UK that carries a 303 model, it looked like any other spinning reel. there’s not much you can do to tweak this reel other than to run the aluminum spool rather than the graphite. you can also make sure there are no nicks or abrasions on the top of the spool where the line comes off, that would slow your cast and abrade your line.
I see you are paying attention to detail and found some rust on the guide, if its on the eyelet, it could also lead to slowing your cast, otherwise, sealing it will just make the inevitable happen sooner. I wouldnt worry too much about the rust, although, it might just be something on the surface. Do you break your tackle down every time, or might that be where you hang your jig when not in use?
