Need a rod for my shimano curado?
I have the abu garcia veritas 6’6″ in mind with 20 lb braid but what action and power? I plan to use this for pond bass and fishing south padre island. As for lures mirrodines red eye shads crankbaits spinnerbaits spoons and pretty much whatever weight lure according to the line and rod.
Well, if you plan to Crank, Spoon and use a Spinnerbait with 6/20 Braid you’ll probably need to get a composite Crankin’ rod NOT a graphite rod.
Why?
Braid has no stretch. Couple that with a graphite rod and your going to be ripping your Cranks, Spoons, and Spinnerbait’s right out of the mouth of the bass when they strike.
If your gonna be using this outfit, (Veritas/Curado) for Cranks, Spoons and Spinnerbait’s think about going with 15LB Mono. Line stretch is actually a good thing when using a graphite rod and Crankin/Spinnerbait/spoon type lures.
Also, might I suggest you go up to the 7′ size. I’ve noticed that the Veritas I’ve used has a very forgiving mid-section, making for mediocre hooksets. A 7′ MH rod with 15LB Mono line will be OK for shallow Crankin, Etc.
