Reel Speed

Reel Speed
Physics Angular and Tangential Variable Problem?

In 8.4 s a fisherman winds 2.5 m of fishing line onto a reel whose radius is 3.0 cm (assumed to be constant as an approximation). The line is being reeled in at a constant speed. Determine the angular speed of the reel.

thanks kristie that answer was right!

Tangential speed = 2.5 m / 8.4 s = 0.2976 m/s
V = r w, where w = angular velocity

Solving for w
w = (0.2976 m/s) / (0.03 m)
w = 9.92 radians/second
