What to buy in order to replace a broken shimano megarange rear derailleur?

3 gear cogs at the front and 7 at the rear
Need a replacement part as the local repair shop is charging £45 which i believe to be alot…
Thank you but i was wondering whether you knew how the model system works as i can’t find the exact same part, but i can find others, should any derailleur’s that are speed 7 and shimano be able to fit my bike or will i have to keep searching for the exact same model part?
That would be around $70US. Not only is it too much, it’s a ripoff.
A Shimano Tourney RD can be had for $15US. It takes an experienced person about 15 minutes to install it and adjust it. A novice with some mechanical abilities might spend an hour trying to get it installed and adjusted. You can get good installation instructions online (http://www.parktool.com plus others). Unless they’re installing a Deore LX derailleur, they’re way out of line.
