Would this casting rod/reel combo take the fun out of bass fishing?
I am planning on getting a shimano crucial rod 6’6″ medium power with a shimano curado reel. I plan on putting 40 pound spiderwire braid on the reel, i was told not to go lower than 40pound braid because any lower the line cuts through the spool causing backlashes. if anybody can verify that for me i would appreciate it. thanks.
if you are new with BC gear, ditch the braid. it is more prone to backlash, and when it does, you will probably have the knife out pretty quickly.
stick with nylon monofilament. get a good quality one. sufix and maxima are at the top of my list. silver thread and some of the berkley lines are also first rate. and l can’t leave stren off the good line list either.
and personally, on that outfit l would use 10lb, definitely no heavier than 12.
