Question about upgrading shifters and crankset (compatibility)?
I recently was given a scott frame and some old components to build a bike, so right now my bike has the following:
Crankset –Truvativ TOURO C 2.1, 50/34 compact
Bottom bracket–Truvativ 07BB
Shifters–Shimano Tiagra
Front derailleur–Shimano Tiagra
Rear derailleur –Shimano 105
Rear cogs–SRAM PG-950, 11-28, 9-speed
Number of gears 18
Brake type–Rim brake
Brakes–Scott Pro SCBR-520
Brake levers–Shimano Tiagra
I am wanting to upgrade a couple parts but I am not sure about compatibility, I can currently get a really great deal on brand new, Ultegra ST-6700 Shifters double 10 sp, and also a great deal on Shimano 105 5750 Double 50/34 Crankset, 175mm, I am not good with maintenance on bike what so ever so I am not sure if I could but these two parts on my bike and they be compatible, would I have to purchase anything else to make them compatible, such as a new cassette or derailleurs. Any advice I would greatly appreciate, and thank you in advance.
Those new parts should match up fine. You may need a different bottom bracket for the cranks, hopefully the new crank comes with the BB. You can lookup the BB type for each crank.
This will help you tune it yourself.
