Jamis Trail X1 vs. Specialized Hardrock?
I’m looking to buy a good mountain bike in the $300 to $400 range. One of the bike shops near me sells the Jamis, the other the Specialized, basically the same price ($375 vs. $389). I’m trying to figure out which I should buy:
I figure the gear shifting components are the most complex, so here’s what they are:
Specialized Hardrock:
FRONT DERAILLEUR: Shimano Altus, 34.9mm clamp
REAR DERAILLEUR: SRAM X-4, mid cage
SHIFT LEVERS: SRAM X3-R trigger
CASSETTE: SRAM PG-730, 7-speed, 11-32t
Jamis Trail X1:
FRONT DERAILLEUR: Shimano TZ30 31.8mm top pull
REAR DERAILLEUR: Shimano TX50 rear
SHIFT LEVERS: Shimano Acera ST-EF50 EZ-Fire Plus, 21-speed
CASSETTE: Indexed 7-speed freewheel, 13-28
I tried googling them to compare, but it produced limited results. Any suggestions?

go for the hardrock! specialized bikes are reliable.
and the parts are better.
jamis gives non-series parts.
specialized gives you sram x-4 which is about the standard of shimano alivio
